BAKAVU, DR Congo - Humanitarian agencies in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo have been overwhelmed following massive displacement triggered by fighting between the Congolese army and rebels in North Kivu.
According to the UN refugee agency, conflict in the two Kivu provinces since the start of the year has uprooted nearly six hundred and fifty thousand people.

World Vision estimates that there are two hundred thousand children at risk from Goma alone.

According to the international charity’s reports from partners on the ground, many children have been separated from their parents in the confusion surrounding the fall of the town that began on 12th November. /IPS (END//2012)
