Cecilia Kibe, from the Turkana district, a remote area in Kenya hard hit by the effects of climate change, is in Doha thanks to funding from the Mary Robinson Foundation for Climate Justice.
She hopes to gather as much knowledge as possible to share with the women though a network of four thousand champions she set up in her community.
The champions educate their fellow community members and help them come up with adaptation strategies.
At the first ever Gender Day at the Conference of Parties on 27th November, Mary Robinson said many rural women like Kibe are doing a lot of work on the ground to adapt, but are hardly recognised./IPS (END//2012)
